Global Planning Director

Job description

This role serves as the lead for Global Supply Chain Planning team. The primary focus of this role is to provide global coordination of supply plans for new and existing products crucial to commercial success through short & long term global sales/demand planning. The global execution will focus on key raw material supplier constraints as well as finished good production plans. This is a highly visible position that will be involved in many aspects of the business unit strategy and management.

• Work extensively with region operations leaders, region sales leads, and customer service/ inside sales representatives to plan products to meet customer expectation.
• Interface with sales and product management to develop a demand forecast
• Facilitate monthly Sales & Operations Planning meetings to develop a common, agreed-upon plan, and facilitate timely and efficient gathering and dissemination of information
• Lead the Regional Demand Planning teams and the Global Supply Chain support team to achieve targets and align all levels of planning
• Lead inventory policy reviews taking into account demand patterns, service levels, and working capital requirements
• Develop planning system methods that provide excellent data to analyze demand, promotion, cyclical, customer, and inventory trends
• Lead projects targeted to improve specific opportunities in supply chain management
• Manage metrics and develops reports related to planning effectiveness
• Establishes objectives for the function based on company strategy, direction and objectives
• Develops budgets and financial plans for a department, program or function
• Recommends policies for one or more departments, programs or functions
• Contribute to the best practices that improve material through-put and on-time delivery through effective use of Kanban planning, VMI/Consignment inventory management and forecasting tools
• Lead meetings with various internal customers to identify and jointly plan/execute sourcing improvement efforts
• Assist regions in review and maintain data integrity on material including BOMs, Routings, Item Master and lead-times
• Analyze the HIDG purchasing requirements, including review of preliminary specifications, preferred suppliers, and dates required
• Develop processes for timely and efficient gathering and dissemination of information regarding quotes, lead-times, schedules, and risks associated with demand (current/future) planning
• Interact with senior management across all regions on component and product plan
• Lead projects and manage change within an organization
• Develop and implementation global planning policies and procedures
• Interact with NPI team to analyze demand, forecasts, inventory, production, distribution, and data related to new released products
• Manage company compliance with contractual obligations, sourcing policies, and preferred supplier arrangements
• Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute key raw materials and products in an efficient and cost effective manner
• Perform cost analysis as required
• Manage ECO implementation costs and affectivity dates by disseminating the information to Engineering, Program Management, and Suppliers
• Manage reconciliation of purchase variances with Finance, supply base and the regions
• Assumes leadership role within the department in the absence of the VP of Supply Chain

Applicant qualifications

• B.S. degree, Masters preferred
• A minimum of 8 years purchasing/planning experience, preferably in the electronics manufacturing industry; 4 years in supervisory capacity
• APICS/CPM certification is desirable
• Experience with managing key supplier relationships
• Excellent organizational, communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of forecasting tool, replenishment tools and inventory management tools
• Negotiating skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong inter-personal skills
• Excellent internal and external customer focus
• Experienced in working effectively across a functional environment
• Familiarity with forecasting tools and statistical tools a bonus
• Accomplished track record in managing short term procurement plans, and long term forecast plans, and working in cross-functional teams though a global planning process
• Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management such as production planning, scheduling, operations planning, and inventory control
